Transcript from Keynote excerpt: what is this what are you doing what is this what is this magic.

It was 2017 i had a private practice.i was doing predominantly psycho dynamic work i got trained in emdr i have a consult a consultant i found a consultant which is what we do and I would present cases case consultation and i would sit down i'll just i'll demo ok i'll demo i sat down in front of this person who was paying a lot of money an hour and i would just start to talk and i would talk and i would talk and i would talk and i would talk and i couldn't get my words straight i would try to present the case and i didn't know where to begin how much should i tell him and how much should i not tell him and i should i have to i have to make sure he knows all of the things that I did and i would talk and i would talk and I would talk and he just started to go stop stop stop talking and i was like hmm and he he he ended the sessions on the dot i was like ok and I would go to talk again and i would glitch a little bit and it felt like I was having a leash pulled and he said what do you notice at first i was angry frustrated i noticed a lot of things this went on for sessions for months actually from 2017 to to till about 2,019 every other week i'd go in I'd try to present a case he'd catch me talking a lot he'd say stop talking what do you notice this was the first time after 30 years of traditional talk therapy alone which i honor and saved my life that i actually realized that there was something happening below all of my talking and i could feel it and it was powerful and then i walked to the door one day after he said to me multiple times go take the somatic experiencing training i was like ok ok i will next week did you did you sign up no no not yet and then i walked to the door one day and I said what is this what are you doing what is this what is this magic he said somatic experiencing go take the training and i said okay so now that person i'm referring to is my mentor i he's faculty i am his lead assistant and somatic experiencing changed my life it changed my practice it changed my clients and that is a plug okay that is a plug so we have a training in new york in November just saying
